Nursing and Allied Health Gets New Associate Dean for Administration and Resource Development

Tuskegee, AL -- Dr. Tsegaye Habtemariam, Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, Nursing and Allied Health (CVMNAH), recently appointed Dr. Cheryl G. Davis as the new Associate Dean for Administration and Resource Development. She is an alumnus of Tuskegee University. Dr. Davis previously served as a faculty member and Program Director for Clinical Laboratory Sciences in the School of Nursing and Allied Health. Most recently, she served as Program Director and Assistant Professor for Healthcare Management at South University in Montgomery, AL. Dr. Davis earned her Doctor of Health Administration degree from Central Michigan University, Mt. Pleasant, MI in 2005; a Master of Arts in Health Studies (Health Promotion) from The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, AL in 2003; a Master of Science in Biology from Alabama State University (ASU), Montgomery, AL in 1988; and two Bachelor of Science degrees (Medical Technology from Tuskegee University and Medical Laboratory Technology from ASU). She also has a national certification from the National Certification -more- New Associate Dean Cheryl Davis September 19, 2008 For Immediate Release Add 1 Agency for Medical Laboratory Personnel, Inc., CLS(NCA). Dr. Davis has served on numerous committees, served as principal investigator on several funded grants, received several awards and recognitions from various health organizations, and published papers on health-related topics such as HIV/AIDS, Cold/Flu, Sleep Apnea, Adolescence Behaviors, and Healthy Living Tips. As Associate Dean for Administration and Resource Development, Dr. Davis is wearing several hats. She serves as the principal assistant to the Dean for all matters pertaining to the administration of the Centers of Excellence (COE) Grant and for the College’s advancement planning and implementation. The COE Grant is a multimillion-dollar grant that the Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine competes for and receives every three years as mandated by federal legislation. Dr. Davis also plans and oversees Resource Development and Partnership building activities and serves as the liaison for university-wide Resource development activities by working closely with the Office of University Advancement. She is also the liaison of the CVMNAH with the Association of Minority Health Professions Schools (AMHPS). In addition, Dr. Davis will be involved in the School’s Minority Recruitment Program and in teaching courses in her disciplinary areas, especially in the School of Nursing and Allied Health. “We are delighted to have the addition of Dr. Cheryl Davis to the CVMNAH administration team. Her background in the human health sciences is an asset that the College can build upon as we continue to advance the framework of the One Medicine – One Health Concept in the CVMNAH,” said Dean Habtemariam.
