CVMNAH/ OFFICE OF ADMISSIONS

Level 16 Full-Time

The Coordinator of Recruitment is assigned to the Office of Veterinary Admissions and is responsible to the Director of Veterinary Admissions for progressive and innovative leadership in the development and implementation of coordinated recruitment activities. Major responsibilities include the development of strategies in terms of the recruitment of students; and direct supervision of all activities related to recruitment. He/she will develop recruitment activities in association with current faculty and students, alumni, and retired faculty. He/ she will have to travel to meeting and make presentations throughout the United States concerning the veterinary programs at Tuskegee University.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

* Develop, implement and administer a coordinated recruitment effort designed to increase the quantity and quality of applicants to the School of Veterinary Medicine.

* Coordinate all effort of the Office of Admissions and Recruitment to determine recruitment needs, strategies, action plans, etc.

* Communicate with faculty, staff, students, alumni, community organizations, universities, colleges, high and middle schools and other education institutions on matters related to recruitment of students for the veterinary program.

* Utilize all available human resources in a coordinated effort to increase the awareness of prospective students of opportunities in the veterinary profession.

* Expand the network and communication with counselors, advisors, and others as the historically black colleges and universities.

* Provide updated information on the veterinary professional programs, required course work and pre-professional programs.

* Develop, coordinate, and maintain an aggressive Alumni Recruitment Program as outlines in the Center of Excellence and Health Careers Opportunity Program Grants.

* Coordinates and schedule off-campus and on-campus recruitment activities (summer enrichment, tours, school visits, workshops, etc.).

* Serve as a resource person for faculty, staff, students, and alumni in term of obtaining positive information on the school’s recruitment program and recruitment efforts.

* Become thoroughly familiar with and utilize all available university resources in the recruitment effort. Resources include: Office of Admissions, Marketing and Communication, Financial Aid Office, Office of Alumni Affairs, College of Agriculture, Environmental, and Natural Sciences, Department of Biology and Chemistry, Pre-Veterinary and Biology Clubs, etc.

* Increase public awareness and improve the quality of information about the veterinary profession and how is serves as a viable career.

* Develop new and up-date recruitment presentation and materials (brochures, pamphlets, PowerPoint presentations, DVD/CDS).

* Serve as the Office of Veterinary Admission’s liaison person for the School of Veterinary Medicine’s Media Center and the University’s Office of Marketing and Communications on matters pertaining to recruitment publication, publicity, etc.

* Prepare press releases in all appropriate recruitment activities.

* Ensure newsworthy recruitment activities are submitted for publication in a timely manner (utilizing school, university community, regional, state, and national modes of communication).

* Develop sound, realistic and achievable goals and objectives consistent with the mission of the University and School of Veterinary Medicine.

* Assist the Directory of Veterinary Admissions and the Office of the Dean in the development of long and short-range recruitment goals and objectives.

* Develop recruitment ”Plan of Action” in consultation with the Director of Veterinary Admissions and the Office of the Dean to accomplish the recruitment goals and objectives for the School of Veterinary Medicine.

* Meet with the Dean’s Council as needed for the purpose of formulating, re viewing, monitoring, and evaluating recruitment plans, strategies, and efforts.

* Identify critical problems and concerns within the Office of Admissions and makes appropriate recommendations to the Director of Admissions and the Office of the Dean.

* Provide assistance as designated in the planning and implementation of school related activities, including in-service workshops, seminars, banquets, graduation ceremonies, and open house (University and School of Veterinary Medicine).

* Attend and participate in departmental, school and University faculty meetings when necessary.

* Maintain an online computer database of elementary, high school, and college students interested in veterinary medicine (pipeline).

* Develop and maintain the VET-STEP I and II programs for elementary and high school students.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

* Perform other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

* B.S. or M.S. Degree in biological sciences, D.V.M. degree preferred

* Five Years experience in recruiting

SALARY Range $32,385 - $40,480 per annum 40 hours per week
